The CN Tower was designed by the architectural firm WZMH Architects, with engineer John Andrews leading the project. Construction began in 1973, and the design aimed to create a symbol of Toronto while incorporating advanced engineering techniques to withstand wind and seismic forces. The tower's distinctive shape, featuring a central core and a wide base tapering to a narrow top, was both functional and aesthetic, allowing for observation decks and communication facilities. Completed in 1976, it became one of the tallest freestanding structures in the world.
