The father of faith missions

If the question is "Who is the Father of the Modern Missionary Movement?", then the answer is William Carey. He left Great Britain around 1792 and served in British and Danish India (Calcutta and Serampore) for approximately 40 years. The first person in the Christian church that took on the role of a cross-cultural missionary was the Deacon Philip. You can read about him in Acts.
