many times the leak is from the pcv line where it enters the motor. standing in front of the motor, put your finger on the top of the oil dipstick tube and move it straight back toward the motor. there is a plastic(!) tube about 5/8" in diameter connecting to the motor about there and running up and to the left. that tube is held in place by a steel "U" clip. pull the "U" clip straight up and you can pull the tube forward toward you out of its socket. the oil seal is the rubber o-ring around the enlarged portion of that tube. clean everything up, inspect for cracks. you can get another o-ring at vw for less than $5. if the tube is cracked, a replacement is less than $30.
