The "TEN COMMANDMENTS" Few people stop to consider that God's Commandments reveal to us "how to love one another": Don't murder one another, don't lie to one another, don't steal from one another, be loyal and respectful to one another. Can anyone treat anyone else better than these basic laws of "attitude" [spirit] toward God and neighbor?
Few people consider that these basic laws of God are WHAT'S MISSING IN THE WORLD! And, subsequently, what the basic PROBLEM is in the world. It's not "modern technology" that's the problem... but age-old selfish and rebellious "human nature;" that thing that "we ARE" [selfish and rebellious to authority] that HATES for anyone to tell us what to do.
Can anyone imagine a world without murder, lying, theft, disrespect for others, etc?
Not hardly. Breaking God's Laws, the Ten Commandments [which is what SIN IS - see I John 3:4], is the NORM in this world. Hatred, resentment, jealousy, lust and greed is NORMAL BEHAVIOR in this world... not TRUE LOVE [the Love of God].
Too many of the hundreds of denominations of the religion in this world that calls itself "Christianity" teach GOD'S LAW DONE AWAY! But is that what The Bible teaches, really?
God calls King David "a man after MINE OWN HEART..."! (Acts 13:22). But David, unlike too many so-called "Christians" today prayed and sang to God beautiful Words like:
"O HOW I LOVE THY LAW! It is my meditation all the day." (Ps.119:97)
"I hate vain thoughts: but THY LAW DO I LOVE." (verse 113)
"I hate and abhor LYING: but THY LAW DO I LOVE." (verse 163)
"Great PEACE have they which LOVE THY LAW: and nothing shall offend them." (verse 165)
But too many folks today that call themselves "Christians" [Christ being the One to whom David expressed and recorded his praises and delight] believe that Christ CHANGED His Law... in spite of the fact that HE SAYS OTHERWISE:
"THINK NOT that I AM COME TO DESTROY THE LAW, or the PROPHETS: I AM come NOT TO DESTROY, but TO FULFILL." (Matt.5:17)
Jesus elevated the Commandments to an even higher SPIRITUAL PLANE that few people stop to consider. It's not the ACT OF MURDER that's the REAL problem in this world, but the SPIRIT OF HATRED the precedes the act. The SPIRIT that festers within us that brings to fruition the act.
God's "Law of Love" is... has always been... and will always BE: His TEN COMMANDMENTS. And that breaks down into our thoughts and actions toward God... and to our neighbor [hint: our neighbor is ANYONE WHO ISN'T US]. Are our thoughts toward God and neighbor ones of Love and Respect... or hatred and resentment?
Too many folks who call themselves "Christians" are being taught by their deceived pastors that "Paul teaches God's Law done away." But what does Paul REALLY TEACH?
"Owe no man any thing, but TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER: for he that LOVETH ANOTHER HATH FULFILLED THE LAW." (Rom.13:8)
"Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: therefore LOVE IS THE FULFILLING OF THE LAW." (Rom.13:10)
"For ALL THE LAW IS FULFILLED in one Word, even this; THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR AS THYSELF." (Gal.5:14)
"If ye FULFILL THE ROYAL LAW according to the Scripture, THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR AS THYSELF, ye do well." (James 2:8)
So, if BREAKING THE TEN COMMANDMENTS IS SIN [I John 3:4 & Rom.7:7]... then it only makes sense that the KEEPING [obeying] OF THE COMMANDMENTS IS NOT SINNING.
Sinning... breaking the Law is HATE!
Obeying the Law... is LOVE!
It's just too simple for most folks to grasp, evidently; considering the way the world is that we've created for ourselves.
God doesn't want His Children to come UNDER THE LAW: that is, to be subject to the penalty for breaking His Law, which is DEATH. And God doesn't want His Children to think they are ABOVE THE LAW: that is, too good for it... which again brings them UNDER THE PENALTY OF DEATH.
No, God has always commanded His Children to Live WITHIN THE LAW... to LOVE ONE ANOTHER... to OBEY THE LAW. He's always commanded His servants to OBEY HIS LAWS:
"...'if ye will OBEY MY VOICE INDEED, and keep My covenant [agree to Obey Him]...'" (Ex.19:5).
That is the covenant God made with ancient Israel... for them to OBEY HIS VOICE. And three days later, His voice boomed out the TEN COMMANDMENTS [see chapter 20]. God demanded [and still demands] nothing less from the Israelites than what He got from their forefather, Abraham:
"...'because that Abraham OBEYED MY VOICE, and kept My charge, MY COMMANDMENTS, My statutes, and My Laws." (Gen.26:5).
And Abraham's God, Jesus Christ, demands nothing short of LOVING OBEDIENCE TO HIS VOICE from His disciples, apostles... and every living person of His creation.
"If YE KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS, YE SHALL ABIDE IN MY LOVE; even as I HAVE KEPT MY FATHER'S COMMANDMENTS, and abide in His Love... THIS IS MY COMMANDMENT, that YE LOVE ONE ANOTHER, AS I HAVE LOVED YOU... Ye are My Friends, IF YE DO WHATSOEVER I COMMAND YOU..." (John 15:10-14)
People are so confused over the TRUTH of the Bible, because selfish human nature REJECTS LOVE AND RESPECT FOR OTHERS in favor of the "selfish love" [SELF-LOVE] that resides and festers in us all. Therefore, Jesus tells those who "believe on Him" [see John 8:30], who think they are "Christians" but who really aren't, because they DON'T BELIEVE A Word HE SAYS:
"...'ye seek to KILL ME, because MY Word HATH NO PLACE IN YOU." (John 8:37).
"...'you seek to KILL ME, a Man who told you the TRUTH... Why do ye not understand My speech? Even because YE CANNOT HEAR MY Word. Ye are of your father the Devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do... and because I tell you the Truth, YE BELIEVE ME NOT... He that is of God heareth God's Words: ye therefore HEAR THEM NOT, because ye are not of God..." (verses 40-47).
God's [Jesus'] LOVE AND MERCY is WRITTEN RIGHT IN HIS COMMANDMENTS. Something that few people have bothered to notice:
"...'for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting THE INIQUITY of the fathers upon the children... of them THAT HATE ME; and SHOWING MERCY unto... THEM THAT LOVE ME, and KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS." (Ex.20:5-6)
God's Ten Commandments are His "Laws of Love." They reveal to us HOW TO LOVE HIM AND ONE ANOTHER.
All we have to do is... DO IT.
