Why is 1776 so important?

Several events occurred in 1763 that are important to the history of the United States. First, the French and Indian war is ended, giving Canada to the British. Also, the Mason Dixon line is surveyed. Finally, King George III declares all land north and west of the Allegheny Mountains closed to white settlement.
