What happened to Ron Catlin?

Ron "Cat" Catlan, the aging fictional hero of the 1969 motion picture "Number One," was battered during a football game against the Dallas Cowboys. His career probably ended because of this contest. Catlan was played by Academy Award winner Charlton Heston.
