Did Edward VI rule before Elizabeth I?

Yes he did. They were both the children of Henry VIII. When he died in 1547 his son by third wife Jane Seymore became King Edward VI. He was King until 1553 when he died, leaving the throne to his cousin Lady Jane Grey. But because of the Third Act of Succession inacted in 1543 by his father, Edward's wishes were over-ruled, and the crown passed to his half-sister Mary. When Mary died in 1558 their half-sister Elizabeth became Queen
