The RPM (revolutions per minute) of a four-stroke engine is directly related to the number of thermodynamic cycles it completes. In a four-stroke engine, each cycle consists of four strokes: intake, compression, power, and exhaust, which requires two revolutions of the crankshaft to complete one cycle. Therefore, the number of thermodynamic cycles per minute is half the RPM. For example, at 3000 RPM, the engine completes 1500 thermodynamic cycles per minute.
