Why is your opinion about a rock group not a public opinion?

Mostly because you haven't published it for all to see. It is just your opinion and you keep it to yourself, or share it with family and friends privately. If you publish it in a book or spread it around, then it is public.

Also, it never becomes what they call "public opinion" because that phrase specifically means what people as a whole believe, not just one person.
