Why is air pollution worse than it was 500 years ago?

People have been care-less and started doing things that kill our Mother. She's always done everything in her power to protect us, giving us life and her ground to sleep on. Yet, we repay her kindness with only pollution, cars, roads, and buildings. This was such a better place long ago, before all this chaos!
