Why don't we use iron to make cans?

Iron is not commonly used to make cans primarily due to its susceptibility to rust and corrosion, which can compromise food safety and shelf life. Instead, aluminum and tin-plated steel are preferred materials because they resist corrosion and are lightweight, making them easier to transport and store. Additionally, aluminum cans are more easily recycled and have a lower production cost compared to iron.
