What is an outhouse?

An outhouse is I believe a place far away from your house and if something was to happen like a genocide, you would go to that shelter far away and stay there until the genocide was over or you were found and killed.

Another View: An "outhouse" (probably a uniquely American expression) refers to a small structure (usually in a rural setting) which houses the outdoor toilet facilities and is consturcted over a dug pit latrine some distance away from the main house.
