It results in malnutrition, disease and in many cases, death. A lack of proper food can cause developmental deficiencies in children such as a small stature. It can cause teeth to fall out and internal organs to shut down. Poverty also means that a sick child may well not be able to afford medical treatment for simple conditions like the measels or chicken pox. Also, in Africa there is a lot of Leprosy which leads to the child being shunned by her family and community. Even though the cure is a regime of antibiotic pills, children in poverty likely could not afford to pay for the pills.
