It is very important. There are chances of getting a sexually transmitted diseases when protection is not used. Its is equally important to protect against as many STI's can be carried without the carrier even knowing they have the infection. This means that where they have multiple partners they can infect each who, if they don't know that have been infected and spread it wider.
