Do you have to remove the valve cover to replace the spark plugs on a 2001 Mitsubishi galant 4 cylinder?

No, you do need a long socket extension that will not release the sparkplug socket deep within the cylinder head. Mine releases with a button at the top of the extension. I'm not sure what the technical name for the tool is.
