The 3/5's Compromise was a plan in the United States during the 1800's. The 3/5's Compromise counetd only 3 out of every five slaves in each state. After the "Great Compromise, which limited the power of the house of representatives to the number of people in each state, many southern states, which held a majority of slaves in their population, wanted to make a deal that slaves would count towards their population so they would have more influence in the governement. Eventually, it was settled that each slave would only count as 3/5's of a person in a census instead of the same as all other people, even women and children.
