When was King David born and what significant events occurred during his lifetime?

King David was born around 1040 BCE. During his lifetime, he defeated the giant Goliath, became king of Israel, established Jerusalem as the capital, and united the tribes of Israel. He also composed many of the Psalms in The Bible.
