When a motorcycle helmet is DOT certified, that means it has been certified by the United Stated Department of Transportation, following strict safety standards. Once a helmet has been DOT certified it is identified with a sticker on the helmet itself. Unfortunately, not every helmet sold that has a DOT sticker is DOT compliant.
