How did Progressivism affect the rights of African Americans?

The Progressive Movement was not intended to include African Americans. It was started and meant to benefit whites only. As a result, Blacks continued to have very little income, Jim Crow laws that disenfranchised them, gerrymandered districts to keep them from having any political power and poor, segregated schools.
