What is a good alternative to the Bose Lifestyle 28 Series home entertainment system?

Overall the Bose Lifestyle 28 Series seems to be a bit outdated. Apparently the Bose Jewel Cube Speakers are much better and not so expensive. Or simply use the standalone Acoustimass speakers
