How important are models to fashion designers?

Models are very important to fashion designers. Without them, the designers wouldn't have anyone to showcase their designs in fashion shows or help with fit modeling purposes during the production phase. While mannequins can be used, they aren't as effective as having the clothes on an actual human being that can move around.
