Why won't lights work on polaris ATV?

Polaris on some of their machines used the battery as a voltage limiter , and if you ran the machine for a prolonged time with a bad battery it would blow the headlight bulbs .The good news is you can buy them at Walmart . Just take one out and go match it up .
