Where can you get a sample letter of hardship?

The main problem with sample letters is where you live. A "hardship letter" is only used (now) in some countries and in some cultures. So for this answer, I will pretend that everyone across the world uses hardship letters.

The other problem is what hardship you are experiencing. So I will give examples of a few reasons.

Example 1, Note for a friend:

My dear friend, Tony,

I am still unpacking in my new apartment. I don't know what I would have done without your help. You came through for me when I needed you the most! As you know, we agreed I will help you move in 3 weeks. I feel awful to tell you that I just received Word that my mother is very ill. She lives back East and wants me to fly from California to her house to help her. I expect to leave here next Monday and I will be there for two weeks. I hope you'll be able to find someone else. I'm enclosing money to help you hire a truck. I look forward to going out when I return--my treat. Take care,

Example 2, to a Professor about Leaving College

Dear Professor Jones,

Last month, I was injured in an auto accident. I tried to keep up with my studies but I find it too painful to walk across campus. I am writing to request a leave until next term, based on Medical Hardship. I look forward to finishing the class "Humor in Statistics" with you. Thank you for any consideration you can give me.

Example 3, Letter to Employer to quit without Notice

Dear Mr. (use their last name),

I have been informed that after the flooding in Texas, my father and mother each had medical emergencies. They have asked me to come there to help them. I am enclosing a copy of a newspaper article that mentions my parents' crises. Regretfully, I cannot give you 2-weeks notice as your business requires me to do. I thank you for the opportunity you gave to me to work here right out of high school. If I am able to return to this area, I hope you might consider me if you have a job vacancy.
