Who were the decendants of Rome's earliest settlers?

The first settlers were Latins who lived on the seven hills of Rome. The foundation of Rome was a union of these settlers under a king. It was also said to have also involved a fusion between the Latins of these hills and Sabines who had settlers on two of these hills

There was also a legend that tried to establish the Romans as descendants of the Trojans, but that was just that, a legend.
