The key requirement for most positions at the Bureau is a minimum 4-yr college degree; though it doesn't matter what the degree is in, degrees in areas that are in concert with the FBI's core mission are preferable.
Meeting that requirement is fairly easy; what usually disqualifies most applicants is the initial polygraph test, as the rejection and failure rate is above 80%. Even if you manage to pass the polygraph, you still need a nearly spotless background in all facets of life to pass the FBI's thorough formal Background Investigation process, which can take up to 2 years if you're not prior military or have never had a clearance previously.
There is an added physical fitness requirement for Special Agent applicants, and they must pass the Academy training program as well.
