A "Pitot tube", or depending on the aircraft it could be the refuel probe. Military aircraft like the A-4 Skyhawk or the A-6 Intruder have a large diameter (maybe 3 inch / 8 cm) "pointy rod" in front used to refuel (as does the CH 53e Super Stallion helicopter). The pitot tube is much smaller in diameter, maybe an inch / 2cm and used to measure air pressure
