Obviously you do not want to stay away from all drugs. Legally prescribed medical drugs should be obtained when necessary. Some drugs like alcohol, nicotine and caffeine are legal in our society and can be used in a proper and limited fashion.

Street drugs and illegally obtained medical drugs (including self medication drugs from the internet) have several problems:

• Purchase, sale, possession and use are illegal
• Proper use to avoid side effects and damage re not used
• Composition cannot be determined
• Interaction with food and other (legal) drugs cannot be controlled
• Delivery systems (needles etc) can transmit disease
• Costs are prohibitive
