Between 1865 and 1920, approximately 25 million immigrants arrived in the United States, primarily through Ellis Island in New York City, which became the main entry point. Most of these immigrants traveled by steamship, often enduring long and challenging voyages across the Atlantic Ocean. After arriving, many settled in urban areas in the Northeast and Midwest, such as New York City, Chicago, and Philadelphia, seeking employment and better living conditions.
