How does oncologist become certified?

To become a certified oncologist, a physician must first complete a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree, followed by a residency in internal medicine, which typically lasts about three years. Afterward, they must complete a fellowship in oncology, usually lasting an additional 2-3 years.
