How many wives can a polygamy have?

It depends on the religion and culture of the polygamist. Muslim polygamists may have up to three wives, but more than that is forbidden by the Qur'an. In other cultures, a man can have as many wives as he wants. In America, since polygamy is illegal, most polygamists have only two wives - a small family is easier to hide from the public and law enforcement.
