when someone tells you that they love your shoes (or something) and then you heard from a friend that the same person told her that she doesn't like your shoes. A hypocrite is someone who tells you something and then tells someone else the exact diferrent thing.
The above answer is not an example of someone being a hypocrite, but a liar.
In order to be a hypocrite you have to profess the importance of a certain action or belief while not actually practising it yourself.
In the above example, the person would be a hypocrite if she told her friends that lying was wrong and then went off and lied herself.
