What if a dog has a bone in its throat?

Sometimes Kennel cough, a nasty virus, will sound just like they have a chicken bone caught in their throat. They cough and dry gag and it is usually worse at night or when they get excited about something. You would need to take your dog to the Veterinarian to be examined as the Vet would give you some meds to ease the coughing and some antibiotics to prevent any secondary bacterial infections. If you know for sure there is a chicken bone caught in the throat, go to the nearest Veterinarian immediately. On the way there, see if you can gently reach down and grab it and gently try to remove it, but if it won't come out easily or if the animal is panicking, don't try it, just get to the Vet's. If the dog passes out, then get that out quickly at that time.
