What was Hitler s first plan to invade great Britain?

In July 1940, the Luftwaffe (German Air Force) began frequent attacks on British air bases in an attempt to gain control of the skies over Britain. The Battle of Britain lasted till the end of October 1940. By then the Luftwaffe had suffered heavy loses and was attacking the civilian population, too, by bombing residential areas.
