Kane Kramer of England, is credited with inventing the Digital Audio Player (DAP) called the "IXI" in 1979, the earliest form of the iPod, took out a worldwide patent, but that ran out when the firm he was with split. Apple admit that its his creation.
American company Apple manufacture the modern ipod today but certain chips inside ipods are made patent protected and manufactured in Britain and sold on to Apple.

The ipod was created by Apple in 2001. The CEO of Apple is Steve Jobs. There were probably many people involved in making the ipod, but in terms of actual names: the engineering chief was Jon Rubinstein, some hardware engineers were Tony FaDELL and Michael Dhuey, and the design engineer was Jonathan Ive.
