Former Presidents of Sri Lanka lived in the Janadhipathi Mandiraya (President's House) in Colombo 1 but due to security reasons Mr. R. Premadasa preferred Temple Trees residence (Prime Minister's House). After that, Mrs. Chandrika Bandaranaike became the President and she stayed in Temple Trees with her mother who was the then Prime Minister. Thereafter Mr Mahinda Rajapaksa also preferred the same. Mr Maithripala Sirisena was his successor and he is currently living in his quarters at Wijerama Mawatha where he used to live when he was a minister under Rajapaksa government. So Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe lives at Temple Trees in Colombo 3 now.
