Personal Security and/or Bodyguards (also called Protection Specialists or Executive Security Specialists) usually get their training via military, law enforcement, Martial Arts, specialized training schools, and on occasion-- just their size or look is all they need to get the job.

Military positions such as Special Ops, Rangers, Military Police (MP's), and the Marine's in general usually provide adequate training for a Protection Specialist position.

Executive Security Services International (ESSI) and Ronin (in South Africa) are amongst the top training centers for those looking for official training. Tuition and costs vary, but some schools offer financing options. These schools usually assist in job/contract placement as well as recommendations on their sites.
