What are some methods that aboriginal people used to obtain the oil from eulachons?

First the Aboriginal people let the eulachons decompose in a pit for about a week, then they added in some boiling water to the fish so all of the oil would come to the surface. Finally, the Aboriginals took all the oil off the top of the water at ease.
