Why do people ostracize others?

because they have something about themselves they are afraid of being made publicly known, like a secret or a something, and they choose to make fun of other people in an effort to take attention away from themself. it's also seen as a defense mechanism, like how someone deals with stress or problems in their life. obviously, it is a bad way to deal witht the stress.
