What happens to the cornea after light hits it?

The light heats it up to the point where it undergoes a mini-explosion, and is then referred to as a "popcornea".

Just kidding. The cornea is transparent, and does nothing else except transmit and focus light, a function a bit like that of the crystalline lens behind it.
