There are differences and similarities. I assume you mean the Nazi Secret Police agencies of the Hitler era, and the Soviet KGB. Okay, the Nazis had several different agencies and bureaux operating under the collective head of the SS and Gestapo. Gestapo was an acronym in German for secret(or homeland, internal) state Police., The SS under Himmler was the Umbrella Agency. Ther were both uniformed and plainclothes Gestapo men, and regular military tank divisions in the Waffen-SS literally armed Protection service! Thee wee more separate branches withethe SS. such as the RUSHA(pronoucned like Russia!) tis stood for the race and settlement Command or Main Office-comand is more accurate. these were nice peole to stay away from!IN Contrast the KGB, while it has had both unifcormed and plainclothes operatives, is primarily concerned withinternational affairs, the MVD is preoccupied with domestic police tasks in Russia, like a uniformed FBI the MVD militia also inlcudes fire fighitng brigades!-as did the SS to some extent. tp be broad about it The KGB combines the fufucntions of major law enforcment, code and counterintelligence ops., Prison and security admisnitraiton tasks, (GULAG), and roghtoy joins up the main tasks of the US FBI, Secret Service(including body guards) and Financial crime imnvestigation(liek US T-men) and the CIA-still the world's largest sedcret polic e apparatus-they also have and mauy still have maritime and submarine detachments . Katharine"s Good Boys indeed! does that answer your quesiton, Comrade?
