What is the old order Japan?

The term "Old Order Japan" typically refers to the period before the Meiji Restoration of 1868, characterized by the Tokugawa shogunate's feudal system. During this time, Japan was isolated from much of the world, with a rigid social hierarchy and limited foreign influence. The society was dominated by samurai, farmers, artisans, and merchants, and Confucian principles heavily influenced governance and culture.
