Why are slums common in ledc?

Because the citizens of LEDCs commonly travel to large cities to find work in the city, where everything is completely out of their price range because they are most likely poor. Therefore, they turn to informal housing where although the instrastructure and living conditions are 100%, they don't have to worry about paying for an over-priced piece of property.
