Does the dog pound kill their dogs?

I recently found out that in most parts of Alabama, a law has been passed that maximizes the time a dog can be held in the pound to 72 hours... 72 HOURS!?!? That's ridiculous! How is it they expect for these animals to be adopted in 3 days? I sincerely wish that this same law could be passed for children's foster homes. Then, maybe people would understand how insanely harsh this law is to living creatures! Yes, I understand that dogs aren't children and all that sympathetic bull crap, but what they apparently do not understand is that dogs still feel, still hurt, and still LIVE! If every child that was given to adoption agencies was euthanized, or "put down", MURDERED after 72 hours of they're arrival, I believe people would be very upset... So upset, that I believe the law might change... Now wouldn't that just be peachy? Think about it
