The mood in a story can be descirbed by the author's emotions at living through or witnessing at event. A story can have several moods, depending on the plot and narration. A young narrator in an unusual situation may create a scary mood. A much older narrator in the same situation could have a different point of view, and with it create a different mood. A story may have one main mood too.

Any mood that you can experience can be the mood of a story, so just think of your own moods and you'll have lots of examples.
