The main difference is that they belong to different national and international organizations.

In the US, Girl Scout troops are members of the national organization, Girl Scouts of the USA. Boy Scout or Scout Troops are members of the national organization, Boy Scouts of America.

Each national organization determines the kind of program the troops will use based on guidelines from the international organization. Both organizations earn badges and other awards, however, the awards and the requirements are different.

The uniforms are different as determined by the national organization.

The way the troops themselves are organized is different.
