Tsunamis primarily occur in regions near tectonic plate boundaries, especially where earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, or underwater landslides can displace large volumes of water. Namibia, located along the southwest coast of Africa, is situated away from major tectonic plate boundaries and experiences relatively low seismic activity, making it less prone to tsunamis. Additionally, the geography of the ocean floor along the Namibian coast does not favor the generation of large waves typical of tsunamis. Thus, the combination of these factors contributes to the rarity of tsunamis in Namibia.
