Why the marble on taj mahal is affected by acid rain?

actually it is due to the toxic gases released by the factories in the vicinity of the Taj Mahal. these gases react with moisture present in the air and they are responsible for the so called acid rain on taj mahal.....!!! hope you got the answer.
