There are several ways to consider the illegal Immigration problem.
1. So many of our serious crimes in this country are committed by illegal immigrants. They are accustomed to the unenfored laws of their countries and bring their attitudes here. Without the supervision of immigration officers and instruction regarding our laws, the illegal immigrants bring their attitudes about law with them. Just recently, in my community, an illegal was angry because he was not paid by the end of the work day. HE was accustomed to being a "day laborer", and when a reputable contractor wanted to pay him at the end of the pay period, the illegal believed that he was being cheated and killed the contractor. A few weeks before that an illegal killed a young woman because she was driving a car that looked like the vehicle of a rival gang member; the illegal escaped to Mexico and was not deported because Mexican authorities feared that he would be executed for his crimes. Another illegal was driving a vehicle that had been fitted with stolen plates, was driving without a license or insurance and when he hit and killed a young bride the illegal attempted to run, knowing that if he could just get away, he would never be found. And that's just a few of the recent LOCAL cases.
2. Our hospitals and medical clinics are being overrun by people who come to this country without insurance, show up at an emergency room for one reason or another. Then my insurance rates go up because hospitals have to charge more next time I go in.
3. Many claim that the illegals only take the jobs that "Americans" don't want. The reality is, they're taking the jobs that our teens would take if they only had a chance. Illegals are taking all of the entry level jobs that would be teaching our young people how to work and give them the ability to earn some money for themselves.
4. Europeans, Asians, Africans and other ethnic groups are trying to get into this country LEGALLY, but they must go through the system. It is as though the illegals are getting prefferential treatment, simply because they are willing to run through the desert or swim across the Rio Grande. Why are the Hispanics from south of the border allowed here without restriction but other ethnic groups are excluded?
The reality is, we're all immigrants (but not all illegal immigrants). We shouldn't discriminate against OR FOR any group of people because of their ethnicity.
