How do men determine the sex of a baby?

Embryos are genotypically a boy or a girl at the time of conception. The chromosomes they inherit make them either XX(girl) or XY(boy). Because a female is XX, she will always contribute an X chromosome, but because a male has both, X and Y (XY), the male could either contribute an X chromosome or a Y chromosome.
