How was lake bosumtwi formed?

Lake Bosumtwi was formed about 1.07 million years ago by a meteor impact, creating a crater which eventually filled with water from rainwater and underground springs. The lake is believed to be the result of a meteorite strike during the Pleistocene epoch.
